We Deserve Nothing Less
11 Jan 2013

“2012 was the hottest year on record for our nation. It was a year rife with droughts, wildfires and extreme weather events like Superstorm Sandy. In addition, the number of weather catastrophes driven by climate disruption across the world has tripled since 1980, with the greatest increases in North America. The situation is dire and requires nothing short of bold, decisive action by President Obama and our leaders to cut our addiction to fossil fuels and build a clean energy economy.” ~ Michael Brune, Executive Director of the Sierra Club
Do you consider this statement to be true? I do.
If you think this is just an environmentalist being an alarmist, read this.
We need a plan that provides jobs, strengthens the economy, and fosters renewable energy innovation and technology.
And we need it now.
President Obama has the perfect opportunity to use his historical inaugural address to prove that he will be a leader in tackling climate change. If you believe our planet and our families deserve nothing less, please sign this. Thanks!

Signed and shared. Thank you Ronnie for taking such an active and visible stance on this frightening and real issue. I too am hoping President Obama uses his inaugural address to step up to the plate and become a leader in tackling climate change.

Thank you, Lori. There are so many looming “issues” that need positive action. I would rather be writing about design, knitting, eco-DIY and other things that I love to create and write about, but we seem to departmentalize politics out of the equation. So this poster brings it all together: good design to good people for the greater good. A win-win!

There is no substitute for a great teacher. President Obama is fighting to help state and local governments save the jobs of hundreds of thousands of teachers and to provide states with resources to reward and attract great teachers while taking strides to improve teacher effectiveness. And he has set a goal to recruit and prepare 100,000 math and science teachers so we can out-compete countries in fields like science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Dennis, I was a teacher for 25 years and you are 100% correct, there really is no substitute for great teachers.
